Tutorial: HP System

This is one of many posts dedicated to explaining how the game works.  Treat this as a refresher or a guide in case you forget how something works...anyways, here's a short one...

Star Wars D20 (Revised) has two HPs essentially...Vitality and Wounds.

Vitality is your normal HP.  You gain Vitality every level (depending on your class and CON Modifier/Bonus).  Enemies will reduce your endurance with their attacks until you reach Zero Vitality Points.  Vitality represents your ability to barely dodge major hits, or taking minor wounds.

Wounds is your "back-up" HP.  Your Wound Score will almost NEVER increase.  Your Wound Score is your CON Score/Stat.

When you take damage to your Wounds, you become "fatigued".  Until you regain all of your lost Wounds and have a positive Vitality Amount, you have a -1 to all STR and DEX Based skills.  A minor inconvenience perhaps, but something to keep in mind.

When you are reduced to 0 Wounds, you are "disabled".  You are unable to perform Full-Actions, and are able to make only one last Attack-Action before going to -1 Wounds.

Going into the negative Wounds (regardless if you still have Vitality points) makes you KO.  When you have -1 to -9 Wounds, you are "Dying".  To become stabilized, you need to do one of the following:
  • You need to make a successful Fortitude Save Roll
  • A Character needs to use Surgery/Medicine/Force Healing on you; OR
  • A Med-Kit must be used on you
Once you become stabilized, you will wake up, either from story-related events or from a successful Fortitude Roll (depending on the situation).

If you reach -10 or more Wounds, you are DEAD.  Try to avoid this.

Criticals are nasty in that the damage you or the enemies do impact Wounds and NOT Vitality.  You can take nearly anyone with one nasty hit with a Critical in this system.
